Role Summary and Impact

The Role

The Channels Strategy, Manager will be a key client-facing member of the digital community. As a Channels Strategist, you will be responsible for steering the digital growth direction for the client across various services. You will partner with the client and stakeholders to understand their challenges, translate them into media objectives, and build frameworks, processes, and media approaches that meet their objectives. You will work closely with Channels Management delivery teams to execute campaigns and ensure digital success.

While operating within a department and team structure, you will leverage your digital knowledge across channels (search, social, programmatic) to maximize opportunities across media environments, delivering bespoke decisioning and strategy. As a member of the digital community, you will contribute to creating and sharing products and solutions to advance our business offering.

Reporting Structure

The role will report directly to the Director, Channel Solutions, and be part of the Digital Strategy community, the Wider Digital Management, Development and Strategy Community, and the Client Team community for your portfolio.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is passionate about digital media strategy and enjoys contributing to planning and digital strategy.

Required experience includes:

  • Proven digital media planning & buying experience (local and global).
  • Understanding of brand and demand media planning.
  • Experience across channels (search, social, programmatic display/video).
  • Forecasting, scenario planning to meet sales targets.
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on knowledge of tools like Google Analytics, search trends, ad servers (e.g., GCM), data visualization tools.

Role Responsibilities

  • Proactive digital strategy and planning for your client portfolio.
  • Adopt the Mindshare Good Growth approach, coordinate brief responses, cross-media strategies, and media plans.
  • Gather media and consumer insights, provide integrated brief responses.
  • Collaborate with marketing channel specialists for optimal channel use.
  • Liaise with media owners and external partners, attend meetings, present channels, and feedback requirements.
  • Maintain strategic knowledge across all channels and their integration.
  • Show thought leadership on new topics of interest.
  • Support idea generation, cross-functional coordination, and campaign implementation.
  • Ensure consistent communication with stakeholders as the digital services gatekeeper.

Agency Responsibilities

Delivering client performance:

  • Lead digital media strategy and planning.
  • Perform regular updates and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
  • Create and lead testing plans, including media owner betas.
  • Prepare presentations and lead client meetings.
  • Work with the AD to devise and deliver campaign strategies.

Raising our profile:

  • Participate actively in team meetings and events.
  • Write case studies of successful work.
  • Assist with new business pitches and cross-agency initiatives.

Inspiring our people:

  • Collaborate with other digital teams.
  • Delegate and manage workloads of junior members.
  • Contribute to personal development plans.
  • Arrange/attend training to enhance team knowledge.
  • Motivate juniors to learn digital best practices.
  • Support educating other teams on digital media benefits.

Driving our process:

  • Implement technology and processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage budgets accurately, following finance processes.
  • Ensure junior team members follow processes correctly.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and suggest recommendations.
