Job Description

KDC Projects requires an Account Manager for a major Defence Customer. This is a mid to senior role requiring the candidate to work autonomously to build the business and ensure the customer relationship is optimal at all times. This involves accountability for maintaining the account, participating in bids, work packages, and responses to large tenders.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  1. Account Strategy: Setting the direction of the account and ensuring understanding of the actions needed to achieve success.
  2. Customer Relationship Management: Managing relationships with senior levels, procurement, and developing new and existing relationships.
  3. Performance Management: Anticipating performance gaps and devising approaches to address them, liaising with technical and operational teams as appropriate.
  4. Support and Mentoring: Assisting and mentoring team members as required.
  5. Reporting: Reporting to the Sales Director and providing weekly updates to the account Operations meeting and Hubspot.
  6. Account Planning: Attending monthly key account meetings, updating the account plan, and providing accurate forecasts and action plans.
  7. Bid Management: Responding to bids and tenders.
  8. Customer Site Attendance: Visiting customer sites as needed; a clean driving license and own transport are essential.
  9. Support: Providing support to other accounts when necessary.
  10. Financial Management: Budgeting and building a sales pipeline.
  11. Commercial Negotiation: Negotiating and signing contracts.
  12. Problem Solving: Acting as the point of escalation for customer issues.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with OEM defence companies
  • Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, and lead the account
  • Highly organized
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Hubspot
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering
  • Background in Sales
  • Familiarity with the maritime division
