Job description
Overview

Ground-breaking net zero-focused organisations need compelling storytelling. Our clients’ technologies—from advanced nuclear to carbon capture, to the hydrogen economy—are shaping the future. We help tell their stories and grow their businesses in the UK and overseas. We are looking for an Account Director with experience across energy, climate and clean tech, and/or knowledge of the UK public affairs and media environment, to join our Net-Zero Transition Practice.

The right candidate will have the chance to work with and learn from some of the best communications advisers in the business, at one of the UK’s most respected consultancies operating in the net-zero space. Matthew Houlsby, our NZT Managing Director, and his team deliver best-in-class digital, media, and government relations expertise for companies and organisations operating in the UK’s growing net-zero transition economy. We are looking for someone who can lead and drive accounts forward with motivation to succeed, help us manage our growing business and take it to the next level.

What we’re looking for
  • Experienced in UK public affairs, media relations and/or multi-channel communications campaigns.
  • Understanding of how integrated communications (media, digital, creative) can deliver for companies working in the energy, climate and clean tech space.
  • Strong grasp of current events, including key political/policy and business news stories relevant to the energy, climate and clean tech space.
  • Ability to deploy areas of specialisation autonomously, often leading matrixed teams.
Responsibilities
  • Client service: demonstrable experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships; deliver high-quality work with precision to detail within tight timeframes; act as day-to-day point of contact for client activity and support the wider account team.
  • Bring fresh thinking and innovative approaches to client offers and new business generation; contribute to proposals, pitch decks, and attend networking events regularly.
  • Develop and expand a strong network within the energy, climate and clean tech public affairs and/or media space; contribute to marketing initiatives promoting the Net-Zero Transition Practice and broader business.
  • Build relationships across the Net-Zero Transition Practice and wider company; act as an ambassador for Madano’s values.
  • Manage team members and provide mentorship across the Net-Zero Transition Practice and wider business; contribute to team recruitment efforts.
What we can offer you

In return, you will work in a company that values net-zero technology providers and the low-carbon economies of the future. You will collaborate with some of the most exciting companies in the UK, from nuclear fusion developers to low-emission aircraft developers.

We are helping our clients change the world for the better. Join us.

Our Benefits

  • Enhanced employer pension contribution
  • Private Medical insurance (for you and your family)
  • Income protection insurance
  • Financial support and advice
  • Travel insurance (for you and your family)
  • Annual wellness benefit of £150
  • Four-week sabbatical after every 5 years’ service
