Account Director / Senior Account Director

Location: London (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and commercially minded Account Director or Senior Account Director to join a growing communications consultancy specialising in the built environment.

Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering strategic communications campaigns, leading high-value client accounts, supporting business growth, and helping shape the future direction and culture of the agency.

This is a senior-level position suited to a driven individual with sector-specific knowledge, excellent client service skills, and a strong understanding of how to craft impactful, outcome-focused communications.

Role Overview

You will:

  • Lead strategic B2B PR and corporate communications programmes across a portfolio of clients in the built environment.
  • Provide high-level counsel to senior stakeholders and act as the key point of contact for clients.
  • Develop creative, commercially aligned strategies that go beyond routine media relations and deliver meaningful business outcomes.
  • Play a central role in new business development – from identifying opportunities to crafting proposals and delivering pitches.
  • Inspire and lead a high-performing team, supporting their development and mentoring emerging talent.
  • Contribute to operational planning, cultural initiatives, and the ongoing evolution of the agency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Delivery

  • Develop and implement effective PR strategies aligned with client objectives.
  • Maintain a strong grasp on industry developments, ensuring proactive campaign execution and messaging.
  • Ensure performance is regularly monitored, evaluated, and refined to meet and exceed KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality client service and manage internal teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness across accounts.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact and trusted advisor for all strategic communications matters.
  • Support and nurture talent within the team, identifying training needs and mentoring future leaders.
  • Promote a collaborative and ambitious team culture.
  • Lead by example with a positive, proactive, and outcomes-oriented mindset.

Business Development

  • Play a key role in generating new business and supporting company growth.
  • Contribute to pitch documents, proposals, and sector positioning.
  • Leverage industry knowledge and networks to bring new opportunities to the table.

Candidate Profile

  • 5–7+ years’ experience in public relations and communications, ideally within a PR agency.
  • Deep sector experience across the built environment – e.g. commercial property, residential, regeneration, ESG, infrastructure, or renewables.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver successful PR campaigns.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience in new business development.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Established media relationships and an understanding of the UK media landscape.
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams, and a passion for developing people.
  • A strong grasp of current affairs and an interest in using communications to shape opinion and drive impact.
