RSK Group seeks a dynamic flood risk manager at the Associate Consultant level to lead and deliver flood risk management services to local authorities. Ideal candidates will have relevant qualifications and expertise in coordinating flood risk datasets and managing projects within budget and scope. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to take a lead on our provision of local flood risk management services and surface water management to Lead Local Flood Authorities. We are looking for a flood risk manager to operate at Associate Consultant level, who has an established track record delivering services within, working as a stakeholder with or as a consultant for Lead Local Flood Authorities.
This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who is Chartered and has demonstrable experience in the Flood and Coast sector. You’ll be a dynamic individual who can grow and inspire others to develop their careers in local flood risk management.
We provide the full breadth of local flood risk services, from initial appraisals through to business cases, detailed design and supervision and from Local Flood Risk Management Strategies to brought-in service support on statutory planning applications and land drainage consents.
Supports our clients to manage our water and coastal environment in a sustainable and innovative way.
Coordinates, quality assures and leads the delivery of Surface Water Management Plans, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and Strategic and Outline Business Cases, as well as brought-in service support on operational LLFA functions.
Leads on proposals for local authority work and supports the development and implementation of business plans.
Supervises and mentors early career professionals, managing small teams of staff on a project and supervisory basis.
The role is suitable for candidates with a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Water & Environmental Management, or another related discipline.
For those with a geography/science background: demonstrable experience coordinating, quality assuring, and analyzing flood risk datasets, including identifying key issues and challenges and creating products such as flood risk assessment reports, business cases, and strategies.
For those with an engineering background: demonstrable experience coordinating, quality assuring, and undertaking feasibility assessments, optioneering, and designing packages, including engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and business case reports. Oversight of site supervision duties for engineering projects.
Experience of working within or for Lead Local Flood Authorities, either as a stakeholder or a consultant.
Commercial awareness, including tendering for flood and coastal work and contract management.
Experience leading projects and/or services in the flood and coastal sector within budget, scope, and schedule, with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
Experience managing and supervising junior staff.
Experience working with flood and coastal risk management stakeholders, including local communities.
Experience in quality assurance processes, including reviewing others’ outputs.
