Account/Contract Manager

The role will ensure the infrastructure is in place to enable the business to respond quickly and effectively to clients’ needs, resulting in first-class customer service.
The Contract Manager will continually strive for improvements in performance of the contract, benefiting both the client and our business in areas such as EBIT targets, recycling and resource initiatives, legislative compliance, and health & safety.
Your core responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the contract, including service levels, sub-contractors, maintenance of suppliers' KPIs, health and safety in accordance with legislation and Biffa guidelines, and environmental compliance.
- Grow and improve profitability of the account through enhanced commercial performance, upselling, new stream generation, and debt management.
- Produce monthly reports and management information, including data for customer’s CSR reporting and delivery of all contractual KPIs.
- Implement contract waste minimisation programmes against set improvement targets and strategic plans, as well as initiatives to reduce costs, improve environmental performance, and enhance general waste handling practices.
- Maintain full and complete records of all waste that leaves site(s) as per current regulations, ensuring compliance and security checks are in place.
- Responsible for maintaining, developing, and growing customer sites regarding waste disposal, identifying and implementing new and best practices to provide first-class customer service and account management.
- Actively manage and work in partnership with the Client and General Manager Treatment and Plant to explore new business opportunities by developing new and existing services.
- This role requires short planning horizons (3 - 6 months) based on the Division’s annual Business Plan.
- The role operates within the constraints of the contract agreement with the customer, ensuring solutions meet Biffa’s health and safety priorities for its people and customers, as well as the environment. Pricing is agreed by the business, with some negotiation scope regarding third-party suppliers to enhance contract returns.
- This regional, hands-on role involves utilizing personal skills such as relationship management, negotiation, and people management.
Our essential requirements
- Ability to reconcile a profit and loss spreadsheet in Excel format.
- Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an Operational/Service environment.
- Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation.
