Job summary

SF Recruitment is partnering with a growing SME in Market Harborough to hire a Finance Assistant. You’ll handle day-to-day purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, payments and reconciliations while supporting month-end processes.

You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, gain exposure to cash flow forecasting, management reporting and drive process improvements. ACCA/CIMA study support is provided and the role offers a £30,000 salary and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
• AAT qualified and studying towards ACCA or CIMA/CGMA.
• Strong transactional finance experience across purchase and sales ledgers.
• Good Excel skills with PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Confident using accounting systems and handling own workload.
• Proactive, organised and keen to develop accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchase and sales ledger activities including invoicing, payments and reconciliations.
• Process bank transactions, supplier payment runs, expenses and company credit cards.
• Complete bank reconciliations and support accurate financial records across the group.
• Manage aged debtor reports, credit control and customer payment queries.
• Support weekly cash flow forecasting and working capital reporting.
• Assist with month-end close, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with VAT returns, year-end accounts and audit preparation.

Are you an experienced Finance Assistant looking to move beyond transactional finance and develop your skills in month-end, management accounts and wider accounting?

SF Recruitment is working with a growing SME to recruit a Finance Assistant into its established finance team in Market Harborough.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid background in purchase and sales ledger who wants to broaden their experience, take on more responsibility and continue working towards their accounting qualifications, with ACCA/CIMA study support provided.

Working closely with the Finance Manager in a small finance team, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of finance activities, from day-to-day transactions through to cash flow forecasting, management reporting and process improvements.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing day-to-day purchase and sales ledger activities, including invoicing, payments and reconciliations.
• Processing bank transactions, supplier payment runs, employee expenses and company credit cards.
• Completing bank reconciliations and supporting accurate financial records across the group.
• Managing aged debtor reports, credit control and customer payment queries.
• Supporting weekly cash flow forecasting and working capital reporting.
• Assisting with month-end close, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Assisting with VAT returns, year-end accounts and audit preparation.
• Getting involved in finance process improvements, systems development and automation projects.

What we’re looking for

• At least 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
• AAT qualified and studying towards ACCA or CIMA/CGMA.
• Strong transactional finance experience, ideally across both purchase and sales ledger.
• Good Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Confidence using accounting systems and managing your own workload.
• Someone who is proactive, organised and keen to develop their accounting knowledge.
