Job description

Are you detail-oriented and passionate about numbers? We are currently looking for a proactive and reliable Accounts Assistant to join a growing accountancy firm in Helston. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in accounting and finance within a supportive and professional environment.

The successful candidate must hold an AAT qualification (or equivalent), and have a minimum of 2 years experience working in an accounting role. As well as the qualification and experience you must have an up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and accounting standards and have strong communication and problem solving skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Handling client queries related to Tax and Accounts
  • Preparing Accounts up to Trial Balance for finalisation
  • Building strong client relationships and ensuring top-tier service
  • Liaising with HMRC for reconciliations and missing payments
  • Chasing and checking client data for accuracy and completeness
  • Preparing and submitting VAT Returns & Self-Assessments
  • Handling Corporate Tax Returns, Payroll, and CIS
  • Supporting Accounts Finalisation
  • Identifying client needs and referring them to relevant teams (e.g., Tax Investigation, Mortgage, R&D claims)
  • Conducting Client Tax Review Meetings
  • Ensuring compliance with Money Laundering regulations
