Job summary

Overview

Job Title: Accommodation Solutions Officer

Ref: K&C 5276017

Pay rate: £20.86 per hour PAYE

Role length: Anticipated 3 months

Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Accommodation Solutions Officer to join the team. You will play a key role in helping individuals and families move from temporary accommodation into longer-term housing solutions, including private rented, social, and intermediate housing. You’ll support the development and delivery of effective housing services, provide tailored housing advice, and monitor occupancy to ensure compliance with tenancy conditions. You’ll also assist with suitability of accommodation reviews and related enforcement activity, legal challenges, tenancy audits and enforcement cases.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide housing advice and support to residents in temporary accommodation
  • Assess accommodation suitability and facilitate appropriate placements
  • Monitor move-on activity and support clients in exploring housing options
  • Liaise with internal teams, landlords, and external partners to resolve tenancy issues
  • Conduct tenancy checks, investigate misuse or abandonment, and take enforcement action where needed
  • Respond to enquiries, complaints, and legal matters (e.g. judicial reviews, ombudsman cases)
  • Support budget efficiency by promoting timely move-on from emergency accommodation
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to policy development, and uphold information governance standards
What the client is looking for
  • Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
  • An understanding of the government’s agenda on homelessness and welfare reform
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of housing needs issues, legislation, and case law, including lettings, and the housing register
  • Experience of delivering front line services to homeless households
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess and communicate service issues and problems and identify and cost appropriate responses and solutions
  • Able to deal with emergency situations calmly and assertively
  • Analysis and reporting skills
  • Proficient IT skills
