Job description

Accessibility Auditor - Fulltime - Permanent - Gateshead/ UK based Remote

At Recite Me, we're working on the future of digital accessibility and we want you to be part of it.

Demand for our solutions is growing rapidly, and we're expanding our team. We're now looking for an experienced Accessibility Auditor to join our Accessibility Team and support our clients in achieving digital accessibility compliance.

About you:

You're a digital accessibility specialist who understands the importance of inclusion by design. You take a systematic approach to accessibility auditing, can explain the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in plain English, and know how to turn complex issues into practical fixes.

You're not just familiar with accessibility best practices, you've applied them hands-on. You know where digital accessibility barriers tend to occur and how to overcome them using automated tools, manual testing, and assistive technology. You stay up to date with industry developments, including WCAG 2.2 and the emerging WCAG 3.0, and have a firm understanding of key accessibility legislation globally.

You'll report to the Head of Accessibility and work closely with our Accessibility Specialist to deliver high-quality audits and support client remediation efforts.

Responsibilities :

  • Auditing websites and mobile apps (iOS & Android) against WCAG 2.1/2.2 or equivalent standards
  • Supporting clients in resolving issues identified via our scanner or manual audits
  • Performing accessibility testing of our own digital products
  • Advising and coaching client development teams to help remediate issues
  • Contributing to a culture of accessible by design within Recite Me
  • Sharing expertise via educational content and marketing initiatives
  • Have an understanding of HTML code to help with client accessibility issues
  • Be able to work closely with internal development teams whilst helping them remediate issues independently, through upskilling and coaching

Key activities:

  • Perform comprehensive WCAG 2.1/2.2 audits across web and mobile
  • Use assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers) to simulate user experiences and bring this to life for others
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to embed accessibility in product development
  • Test accessibility of digital documents, including Word, PowerPoint, and PDF
  • Help the team in growing accessibility awareness around the importance of manual testing

Requirements

  • IAAP certification (e.g., CPACC, WAS, or equivalent) desirable but not essential
  • Practical experience conducting audits and managing issue remediation
  • Working knowledge of HTML and accessibility-related code fixes
  • Confident using assistive technology to perform audits
  • 3+ years of experience in driving accessibility in digital product
  • Knowledge of auditing word documents, Powerpoint and PDFs

Benefits

  • Fully remote (UK-based) with optional in-office "connect days"
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • 10 days ‘workcation' - a short working day from anywhere in the world
  • Free onsite parking (for office-based employees)
  • Health Plan + Death in Service
  • Company pension scheme
  • Regular team events and Recite Me Relax Days
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme
  • Onsite physio, healthy snacks, and drinks (office-based)
