Working Days & Times: Core hours include Monday-Friday 9-5pm, however flexibility is offered.

Salary: £26500 per year

Role Information

DUTIES

  • Deliver outstanding teaching and learning opportunities across Access to HE diplomas with a focus on study skills units.
  • Deliver and assess units such as: preparing to study, preparing written assignments, and academic skills.
  • Report to the Access to HE manager, maintain an excellent rapport with students and staff, and communicate issues regarding students effectively and efficiently.
  • Work with other tutors as part of the Access to HE team; manage your units alongside other tutors to maintain fluent progression for students.
  • Work remotely or at our Durham site; manage your own diary and workload effectively.
  • Assess, mark and provide timely feedback to students’ work, turning work around within set guidelines.
  • Confidently use E-platforms to communicate with students and staff, plan, and implement interactive sessions via Microsoft Teams and E-Assessor.

Although delivery is our passion, you should be comfortable using e-portfolios for the following:

  • Planning: Intent of the session and teaching strategies.
  • Resources: What resources you will use during the session (e.g., PowerPoints).
  • Feedback: Feedback on the session, learner engagement, and what they gained.
  • Marking: Mapping and giving feedback on work.
  • Diary Management
  • Audit trail: Recording learner participation, and auditing trails on SA.
Essential Criteria

  • Understanding of Access to HE provision and/or university provision.
  • A Level 4 or above qualification in Education and Training
  • Recognised teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
  • Vocational experience in the area of application
  • Proven track record of meeting targets
  • Good level of IT skills
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Drive and enthusiasm to support learners
