Overview
The post holders will provide support to the Access Team. The primary role will be to contribute to the validation of all RTT and Non-RTT weekly and monthly files, along with a number of Data Quality Reports to ensure patients are externally and internally reported in line with Trust Policy, Local or National Standards and in particular the Referral to Treatment (RTT) targets. The post holders will also be responsible for any other validation leading up to month end master files, ensuring the data quality of all submissions are maintained and are accurate at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist Access Specialists validating all measures of RTT including admitted, non-admitted, incomplete and confirming whether or not the patient breached or is in a current breach position.
- Support the validation of month end files for RTT Access measures including the 6 week diagnostic measures and cancelled operations, including the 28 day standard of re-booking.
- Validate and maintain the RTT and Non-RTT data quality of the Inpatient & Outpatient waiting lists; monitor patients identified in the Planned & Post RTT category to ensure they are legitimately in the correct category and have the correct “see by” dates.
- Utilise RTT and Non-RTT knowledge to support the admin processes of validation and ensure Trust systems are updated with the correct RTT and non-RTT status codes by interpreting clinic letters, identifying and escalating key areas for training to maintain high data quality.
- Provide a high level of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, patient-focused and knowledgeable point of contact.
- Support, analyse, investigate, validate and monitor the Trust’s Access Performance, escalating breaching patients for action and identifying growing backlogs.
- Aim for data entry to be correct first time, every time and on time; manage own workload and priorities, including working independently within defined occupational policies and ensuring absolute confidentiality.
- Actively participate in the Trust appraisal process; exercise independent judgement and initiative to resolve problems or escalate as needed.
- Support the NHS workforce modernisation agenda by encouraging newer ways of working, including moving towards electronic systems and becoming more paperless.
- Contribute to a supportive team environment and identify/escalate issues that could compromise 18 week RTT performance (e.g., capacity issues in Outpatients or Inpatients, or Data Quality issues).
- Assist in conducting regular Audits of Planned Waiting Lists to ensure valid admission dates and legitimacy of the waiting list category.
- Ensure staff adhere to the Access policy; use LEAN techniques and SMART objectives to deliver improvements.
- Contribute to patient and elective care improvement agendas, including undertaking project work, data collection and reporting using Trust IT systems and tools (e.g., Cerner, PPM, Unisoft, Medisoft) in line with Trust guidelines.
- You will have good knowledge of 18 weeks RTT rules and apply them to manage all patient pathways.
