Job Description: Project Worker (Access Movement) Temporary Role

Salary: £23, FTE (Pro-rata for 6 hours per week) - £12.73 per hour Contract: Temporary, 6 months Hours: 6 hours per week, including Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons, and regular evenings (Mondays)

Reports to: Charity Director

Purpose of the Role

To support the delivery of the Access Movements programme aimed at improving physical and mental health among refugees, increasing their participation in physical activity.

This role involves working directly with participants, engaging in outreach to recruit new individuals, and collaborating with partner organizations to ensure the programmes success.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to facilitate and attend the following sessions:

Alternate between Monday evenings 7.30pm to 9.30pm and Sunday afternoons to join partner football sessions for refugees.

Saturday mornings weekly (Running club) 8.45am to 11.45am.

Approximately 1 hour per week will be required for administration, planning and communications support. There will also be three bike rides organised that will be part of the post holders remit; the post holder will be paid for agreed overtime for irregular activities such as these.

Participant Engagement and Registration

Welcome and register participants for activities.

Maintain accurate records of attendance and participant information using our database

Hospitality and Logistics

Prepare and provide refreshments during programme sessions.

Ensure spaces are set up and maintained for activities.

Outreach and Recruitment

Conduct outreach activities to recruit participants from refugee communities.

Build trust and maintain communication with community groups and individuals.

Communication and Administration

Respond to enquiries and provide timely updates to participants and stakeholders.

Manage schedules, correspondence, and reports related to the programme.

Collaboration with Partner Organisations

Work closely with partner organisations to coordinate programme efforts.

Share insights and feedback to improve service delivery.

Actively contribute to creating a welcoming environment that supports physical and mental well-being.

Collect feedback and suggestions for improving the programme.

Person Specification

Experience

Experience working with refugees or other vulnerable groups.

Demonstrated ability to manage small-scale programme logistics or group activities.

Skills and Competencies

Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and organisations.

Personal Attributes

Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to inclusion.

Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Flexibility to work during the specified hours (Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons, and regular evenings).

Other Requirements

An understanding of the challenges faced by refugees in accessing physical and mental health resources.

Basic IT skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and online communication platforms).

Previous experience in outreach or recruitment roles.

An interest in sports and/or health and wellbeing.

Knowledge of local refugee community networks or organizations.

First aid or mental health first aid training.
