Job summary

RM Recruit is partnering with a Birmingham Academy Trust to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for an interim role of approximately six months. The role focuses on budgeting forecast return (BFR), year-end audit readiness, and balance sheet remediation, including capitalisation and fixed assets.

The successful candidate will bring ACA/CIMA/ACMA/CIPFA qualifications or equivalent experience, with strong reporting and governance capabilities within the education sector.

Qualifications

• Experience of budgeting forecast returns and year-end processes in education/academy sector.
• Strong balance sheet remediation focus, including capitalisation, fixed assets, and accounts reconciliation.
• Ability to translate financial/regulatory changes into clear guidance for non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Budget Forecast Return (BFR) and prepare for August Year-End Audit.
• Oversee Balance Sheet and remediate issues related to capitalisation and fixed assets.
• Deliver other finance duties as required by Finance Director.

RM Recruit is delighted to be partnering with a Birmingham Academy Trust to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for an interim role for approximately six months.

• Assisting with the Budget Forecast Return (BFR) and prepare the Trust for the critical August Year-End Audit.
• Balance Sheet Oversight: Conduct necessary remediation on the balance sheet, focusing heavily on capitalisation, fixed assets, and balancing accounts
• Other finance duties as requested by the Finance Director

The successful candidate will be an accomplished accountant with demonstrable experience within the Academy or wider education sector. You will possess a strong understanding of MAT accounting principles, statutory financial reporting requirements, and complex balance sheet management. In addition, you will be highly systems-literate, with the ability to translate technical and regulatory changes into clear, accessible guidance for non-finance stakeholders.

You will be qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACMA/CIPFA) however candidates who are qualified by experience / part qualified will be considered should they evidence strong experience in the sector.
