Responsibilities:

  1. Acute Intervention: To contribute in the injury management of all EDS/U18 players to optimise the healing process and minimise time loss due to injury.
  2. Injury Prevention: Minimise time loss due to injury within the PDP by contributing to the continued development and delivery of appropriate screening and injury prevention strategies.
  3. Rehabilitation: Design evidence-based protocols for the return to full function of the academy players while minimising the risk of reoccurrence of injury.
  4. Encourage an interdisciplinary approach of working within the department that includes close links to all areas of the club.
  5. Maintain all legal and professional qualifications in relation to own profession and help to maintain the equivalent standards for all the therapists within the department.
  6. Create relationships with players, their parents, and coaches to support injury rehabilitation needs.
  7. Contribute to appropriate Continuous Professional Development training for all academy therapists.
  8. Utilise the latest clinical, scientific, and technical innovations within clinical practice maintaining the highest level of care.
  9. Provide emergency aid cover for both training sessions and matches. Maintain up-to-date ATMMIF accreditation to meet all legal requirements for this specific part of the role.
  10. Attend and professionally engage in the internal emergency aid training programme.
  11. Maintain detailed records for the department of all therapy care in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  12. Fulfil the role of a HCPC registered physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of all injuries.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of injury management pathways and medical screening/injury profiling within elite sports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders and work with a variety of individuals, including players, coaches, and parents.
  • Understanding of child development in an elite sports environment.
  • Proficiency in PC literacy and experience with data management systems for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to challenge performance, standards, and behaviours in line with the Academy Code of Conduct.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to a flexible working pattern.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-performance sport environment, such as a UK professional football club.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts and manage change effectively.
  • Ability to reflect on and improve current working practices, with a passion for continuous development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and influence key stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in sports rehabilitation and physiotherapy within high-performance sport, including coach and athlete education.
  • Knowledge of EPPP guidelines for medical governance.
  • Ability to use performance insights for self-development and to support others’ growth.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • MSc in a relevant area.
  • CPD portfolio may include courses in Child Development and Human Science.

Qualifications:

  • BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of structured CPD, including postgraduate qualifications in areas such as Manipulative Therapy, Movement Dysfunction, Injury Surveillance, Soft Tissue Manipulation, and Acute Injury Management in elite sports.
