Our Story

Manchester City Women is an English football club founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched through a partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and turned professional in 2014. The team has achieved success in the FAWSL, Women’s FA Cup, and Continental Tyres League Cup, and regularly competes in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The team plays its home matches at Joie Stadium, a 7,000-capacity arena located on the Etihad Campus, which includes the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training facility for all MCWFC teams.

Our Winning Team

As part of our Performance Services team, the Performance Lifestyle and Wellbeing Practitioner will deliver and develop support for MCWFC Academy players aged 8-19. This role involves providing holistic support in areas such as career, wellbeing, lifestyle, and education, aligned with the MCWFC Performance Lifestyle and Wellbeing strategy.

Your Impact

You will play a vital role in shaping and executing MCWFC’s Performance Lifestyle and Wellbeing programs through the following responsibilities:

  1. Performance Lifestyle and Wellbeing Curriculum
    • Develop and document an age-appropriate curriculum for MCWFC Academy.
    • Deliver individual and group development sessions to support players’ growth as athletes and young individuals, covering topics like time management, finance, and social media.
    • Assist in developing the curriculum for parents/guardians and review its impact annually.
    • Collaborate with the education department to meet educational needs and build external links.
  2. Management of Host Families
    • Lead recruitment, monitoring, and supervision of host families.
    • Handle administrative tasks related to host families, including payments and safety documentation.
    • Serve as the primary contact for host families.
  3. Player Transition Support
    • Coordinate support for players transitioning onto, through, and from the academy.
    • Work with stakeholders, including parents and the First Team staff, to facilitate smooth transitions and individual exit support.
  4. Psychosocial Wellbeing
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and wellbeing forums.
    • Coordinate wellbeing forums, monitor action plans, and manage external referrals.
  5. Administrative Tasks
    • Complete documentation, resource development, and diary management to ensure service delivery and compliance with PGAAC regulations.
  6. Additional Duties
    • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Director of Performance Services and Wellbeing Coach.

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree or equivalent in Sports Management, Sport Science, or relevant field, or significant experience in elite sports environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Experience designing and delivering holistic athlete support programs.
  • Experience working with youth athletes or high-performing individuals.
  • Ability to create engaging presentations and workshops.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Level 3 Certificate in Athlete Personal Development & Lifestyle, MHFA, and coaching/mentoring qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of UK educational requirements and diversity/inclusion awareness.
