Job summary

Stoke City Football Club is seeking a full-time Academy Match Analyst to support U9s–U16s at Clayton Wood. You will work with the Lead Academy Match Analyst, covering all analysis duties for the club’s Category One academy.

The role requires filming, coding, clip creation for coaching, opponent analysis, and CPD-driven development within a professional football environment. Evening/weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience with performance analysis equipment and wide-angle filming.
  • Experience using SportsCode and Hudl.
  • Hold a football coaching badge.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in a sports-related course.

Responsibilities

  • Film (wide angle) games and training with proper setup.
  • Code live and post-event analyses for review.
  • Create pre-match and post-match clips for staff.
  • Undertake opposition analysis for academy teams.
  • Upload videos to Hudl and manage clips.
  • Create clips reflecting the academy playing philosophy.
  • Support PDP phase and Head of Academy Coaching with analysis.
  • Film and code sessions for staff CPD and staff development.
  • Maintain academy match analysis databases.
  • Contribute ideas to advance academy match analysis.

Job description

Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League is looking for a full-time Academy Match Analyst to join the department at our training ground facility at Clayton Wood in Trent Vale. The position requires a commitment to working within the Club's Category One status Academy. You will report to the Lead Academy Match Analyst, assisting a progressive and enthusiastic Academy Match Analysis department. You will provide support to all Academy teams, across all areas of analysis, specifically the U9s-U16s.

Main Responsibilities
  • Covering all analysis needs including but not limited to:
  • Filming (wide angle) games and training.
  • Live and post event coding (using SportsCode and Hudl).
  • Creating pre match and post match clips.
  • Undertaking opposition analysis.
  • Uploading videos to Hudl.
  • Creating clips that relate to the Academy's playing philosophy.
  • Supporting the PDP phase when required.
  • Supporting the Head of Academy Coaching with coach analysis.
  • Filming and coding sessions that are used for staff CPD.
  • Maintaining Academy match analysis databases.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of new ideas to further develop Academy match analysis.
Knowledge and Experience
  • IT literate, specifically with the use of Apple MacBooks, Keynote, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and iMovie.
  • Experience of using performance analysis equipment (e.g. camera) and filming wide angle.
  • Experience of using SportsCode and Hudl.
  • Outstanding knowledge of football.
  • Experience of working in a professional football club.
  • Experience using Wyscout.
  • Hold a football coaching badge.
  • Full and clean UK driving licence.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree, preferably in a sports related course.
Personal Specification
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in the football industry.
  • Committed, enthusiastic and highly motivated.
  • Ability to work as part of the Academy Match Analysis team, as well as other departments within the Academy.
  • Positive and professional attitude, with an ability to meet the deadlines of the weekly match analysis requirements.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
CPD

In house CPD will be given throughout the season across a range of match analysis related subjects, using a range of sports specific software.

The successful applicant will be available to work evenings and weekends to cover a busy Academy schedule. The positions will be offered on a full time permanent basis. All relevant training will be provided.
