Position:
The Student Success Tutor plays a vital role in providing personalised guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey. This role involves proactive coaching, creating individualised strategies and plans, and collaborating closely with students to set and monitor academic goals, overcome barriers, and utilise resources. The role aims to improve retention and enhance the student experience through collaboration with academic and support teams.
Requirements:
- Provide personalised academic support for students to achieve their goals.
- Develop individualised support and development plans through building strong relationships with students.
- Collaborate with students to set SMART goals and track progress via regular check-ins.
- Support understanding of course material and assignments.
- Identify and support at-risk students through early intervention, using data to inform actions.
- Implement retention strategies, including proactive outreach and tailored action plans.
- Work with departments like well-being and career services to connect students with resources.
- Maintain detailed records of interactions, goals, interventions, and outcomes.
- Monitor and adjust strategies to ensure ongoing growth.
- Analyse student success trends to inform retention programs.
- Provide academic guidance, feedback, and discuss challenges with students.
- Proactively identify and support struggling or disengaged students.
- Track progress and outcomes to inform coaching strategies.
- Advocate for students' needs within the community.
- Occasional national travel may be required for events and professional development.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and grade.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all activities.
- Ensure health and safety responsibilities are met.
- Comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
Other Information:
Qualifications/Education:
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as business management, marketing, economics, etc., and a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification in progress.
- Desirable: Master's degree in relevant fields.

Experience:
- Experience in Further/Higher Education or Secondary Education.
- Proven effectiveness in learning, teaching, and assessment strategies.
- Recognition or progress towards teaching qualifications such as QTS or PGCE.
- Commitment to educational excellence and supporting diverse learners.
