Situated in the Export Building at East India Dock, YSJ London Campus sits in one of the capital's most vibrant and diverse boroughs, close to Canary Wharf and at the heart of a dynamic hub of creative, technology, and start-up enterprise. This unique cultural setting fosters a genuinely collaborative environment, rich with original thinking and cross-disciplinary exchange.

Home to over 3800 students, London campus delivers postgraduate and undergraduate top-up degrees across Business, Health, and Computer and Data Science. This role provides support across all programmes and levels of study, with a particular focus on delivering the embedded Academic Skills Programme, contributing to Induction and Transition activity, and providing individualised student skills support. Development of the library space is also a key priority. With a student population that is predominantly international, commuting, and mature, the role operates within a distinctive and richly varied campus community.

The role

37 hours per week, 1 FTE. Working pattern is Monday to Friday. Pattern to be agreed between the successful candidate and Academic Services Manager. Based on York Campus.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Academic Liaison Librarian to support our growing and thriving London Campus. This role is based at London Campus and will work jointly as part of the Academic Services Team in York and the London Learning and Wellness Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys helping students develop the confidence, research skills, and critical thinking they need to succeed at university and in their future careers. While a knowledge of librarianship is essential as London Campus' local expert, this role is equally about teaching, partnership working, creativity, and making a positive difference to student outcomes, to staff teaching and research outcomes, and to campus life.

Working closely with academic colleagues, you will design and deliver engaging teaching that develops students' information literacy and academic skills, embedding this support within the curriculum. You will support Business and Computer & Data Science programmes, many of which attract international students studying professionally focused courses. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with diverse learners and helping students navigate new academic and professional expectations.

Previous experience of these subject areas is not required. We provide comprehensive support and resources, so the ability to learn, adapt, and develop expertise is more important than existing disciplinary knowledge.

Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will develop library collections to support teaching, learning, and research, working proactively with colleagues to identify needs and improve the student experience.

We are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable, and motivated by helping others learn. Most importantly, you will be committed to creating inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to wider University initiatives around inclusive education, wellness and coaching, accessibility, skills capability, and sustainable futures, alongside supported continuing professional development and professional engagement.

Required skills and experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Are passionate about supporting student learning and success.
  • Enjoy teaching and working with diverse student groups.
  • Build positive relationships with academic colleagues and professional services staff.
  • Approach challenges with creativity, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Are confident learning new subjects, technologies, and ways of working.
  • Want to contribute to an inclusive and student-centred educational environment.
