The role: AC Engineer

The purpose of the AC Engineer role is to support the Technical Supervisor and/or Area Operations Manager (AOM) by providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance services for building engineering systems at various sites, following established procedures and safety practices.

  • Maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems and perform PPM routines as assigned.
  • Ensure all repairs and installations comply with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment to meet current standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments for reactive and planned maintenance tasks to ensure safety.
  • Diagnose faults and repair equipment using manuals and drawings as needed.
  • Complete and update Site Log Books according to procedures.
  • Generate reports for the Technical Supervisor.
  • Manage stock levels of spares.
  • Participate in an Emergency Call Out service as per the Out of Hours Rota.
  • Perform other duties related to BT Facilities Services as directed.
  • Undertake the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and support the identification of other APs and Competent Persons (CPs).
  • Work as part of a team to support operational objectives.
  • Plan and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Engage with stakeholders regarding specific work efforts and deliverables.
  • Support health and safety policies and standards.
  • Oversee activities of others to meet deadlines and quality standards, considering the impact outside your area.
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving measures and work within budgets.
Person Specification
  • Must have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training in air conditioning and refrigeration installation and maintenance, with practical experience and theoretical knowledge to demonstrate competence.
  • Must hold a City & Guilds 2079 Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 1 or equivalent.
  • Desirable qualifications include a Level 3 NVQ diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent, PASMA, IPAF, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space Working, and Roof Working certifications.
