Job description

The role: AC Engineer

The purpose of our AC Engineer role is to support the Technical Supervisor and/or the Area Operations Manager (AOM) by providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance services to building engineering systems and services at various sites, in accordance with laid-down procedures and safe working practices.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems and undertake PPM routines as assigned.
  2. Ensure all repairs and installations comply with applicable regulations.
  3. Ensure test equipment is calibrated, maintained, and meets current regulations.
  4. Complete risk assessments for reactive and planned maintenance tasks to ensure safety.
  5. Diagnose faults on equipment and repair using manufacturer manuals and drawings as needed.
  6. Update Site Log Books in accordance with procedures.
  7. Produce reports for the Technical Supervisor.
  8. Maintain stock levels of spares.
  9. Participate in an Emergency Call Out service as required.
  10. Support the Control of Works as an Authorised Person (AP) and identify other relevant APs and CPs.
  11. Work as part of a team to meet operational objectives.
  12. Manage tasks effectively within short-term planning.
  13. Interact with stakeholders regarding work efforts and deliverables.
  14. Support health and safety policies and standards.
  15. Oversee activities of others to meet deadlines and quality standards, considering impacts outside your responsibility.
  16. Identify ways to reduce costs and work within budgets.
Person Specification:
  • Completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training in air conditioning and refrigeration installation and maintenance, with relevant practical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Hold a City & Guilds 2079 Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 1, or equivalent.
  • Desirable qualifications include a Level 3 NVQ diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent, along with certifications like PASMA, IPAF, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space Working, and Roof Working.
