Job description

Join to apply for the ABBA Voyage - System Technician - Audio role at Solotech Inc.

Reporting to the Senior Project Coordinator, but with a day-to-day responsibility to the on-site Head Of Audio, as System Technician Audio you will work with all departments to ensure the smooth running of the show and the overall upkeep of the audio system. The show is very complex across all disciplines; therefore, you will be able to work calmly under extreme pressure.

Experience with some or all of the existing technical disciplines used on the show is essential. Onsite training will be supplied where knowledge of technology is missing. Remote support is available also.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain the System Design under guidance from the designer and Solotech project staff.
  2. Ensure that Solotech equipment and standards are respected (cables, connectors, packaging, etc.).
  3. Create maintenance schedules and work with the Solotech team to implement.
  4. Assist with other Solotech on-site departments as needed.
  5. Lead upkeep of the concourse system (Qlab/QSys) along with the audio team.
  6. Create and maintain the systems plot, keeping paperwork up to date when any system changes are made.
  7. Communicate effectively with the show-running team to efficiently problem solve throughout the show.
  8. Operate the FOH console adhering to the guidance set by the audio design team.
  9. Operate the Monitor console adhering to the guidance set by the audio design team and the Monitor Engineer.
  10. Follow Solotech’s communication protocols utilizing online systems such as MS Teams to share information effectively.
  11. Report breakages and liaise with Solotech project Managers over running repairs.
  12. Represent Solotech to the highest standard, respecting that your primary place of work will be at the client’s premises.
  13. Learn from and teach other members of the Solotech team to share knowledge of the entire show, with particular responsibility for the system plot.
  14. Collaborate with all internal departments to ensure a high level of customer service.
  15. Liaise with the Dark Day technicians to integrate projects across the department.
  16. Perform any other reasonable ad-hoc requests as required by your manager.
Essential Skills / Experience:
  1. Strong working knowledge of all audio systems, with a focus on control equipment.
  2. General technical knowledge in lighting, sound, video, and rigging.
  3. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  4. Perseverance, precision, and attention to detail.
  5. Diplomacy in communication.

  1. Experience working at height in a harness (training can be provided).

Education and Experience:
  1. Degree level education (or equivalent) or proven work experience.
  2. Industry accepted qualifications or third-party training.
  3. At least 2 years of proven work experience in the live events industry.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Right to Work and Remain in the UK.
  2. Ability to travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays as required.
