Job summary

Thrive Shepton, on behalf of their client in Yetminster, is recruiting for an Abattoir Operative on a temporary to permanent basis. The role involves dressing and trimming carcasses to ABP and customer specs, with full training provided and a 40-hour week (0700-1700, Mon–Fri).

Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to work safely with PPE. Basic English is required and a bonus rate is offered.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under own initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• High level of attention to detail and ability to follow detailed SOPs
• Ability to follow instructions related to PPE, safety and SOPs
• Good physical fitness for a physical role
• Can-do attitude with good communication
• Basic understanding of verbal and written English

Responsibilities

• Dress and trim carcasses according to ABP and customer specifications as directed by Production Supervisor
• Meet production deadlines
• Trim carcasses to achieve optimum production yield
• Maintain equipment and report faults to Supervisor promptly
• Demonstrate high levels of animal welfare at all times
• Work in accordance with SOPs
• Follow Health & Safety legislation and training provisions
