Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd on behalf of our client in Sherborne is seeking an Abattoir Operative. The role is 5 out of 7 days, 07:00 to 17:00, with a rate of £13.50 per hour and a focus on meeting production targets.

Ideal candidates will have experience in abattoirs, the ability to work independently or in a team, and basic English communication. Safety, PPE use, and adherence to SOPs are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Abattoir Operative preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed operating procedures.
• Good communication in verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Dress and trim carcasses to ABP and customer specifications as directed by the Production Supervisor.
• Meet production deadlines with best effort and accuracy.
• Trim all parts of the carcass to maximise yield while adhering to legal and company requirements.
• Maintain operational effectiveness of equipment and machinery; report faults promptly.
• Demonstrate high levels of animal welfare.
• Work in accordance with SOPs.
• Carry out all procedures safely in line with H&S legislation.
• Physically able to perform general operative tasks.

KPI Recruiting are on the look out for an Abattoir Operative for our client based in Sherborne.

As an Abattoir Operative your working hours and days are:

• 5 out of 7 days per week
• 07:00- 17:00

The rate of pay as an Abattoir Operative is:

• £13.50 p/h

The duties and responsibilities as an Abattoir Operative are:

• Ensure carcasses are dressed and trimmed according to ABP and Customer specifications as directed by the Production Supervisor
• Ensure work is carried out to the best ability to meet production deadlines
• Ensure that all parts of the carcass are trimmed to produce optimum production yield while adhering to legalisation and company requirements
• Maintain responsibility for operational effectiveness of equipment and machinery and report faults to supervisor in a timely manner
• Demonstrate high levels of animal welfare
• Work in accordance with SOP's
• Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with H&S legalisation
• General operative tasks require a substantial amount of physical ability must be physically fit

The ideal candidate for an Abattoir Operative would need:

• Ability to work under own initiative
• Previous experience working as an Abattoir Operative
• Ability to work well individually or in a team environment
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to follow detailed operating procedures with high degree of attention to detail- follow instructions including those relating to personal health and safety and the wearing of PPE
• Can do attitude with good communication skills and a basic understanding of verbal and written English

Attendance reliability and Performance metrics bonus for Agency:

• £250 after month 1, month 3 and month 6
