A Level Psychology Lecturer - East London

We are working with a well-regarded further education college in East London who are seeking a committed and engaging A Level Psychology Lecturer to join their team from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to teach bright and motivated students preparing for university study in the social sciences and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality A Level Psychology lessons in line with the AQA (or equivalent) curriculum
  • Teach key topics such as memory, attachment, psychopathology, social influence, biopsychology, and research methods
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages academic curiosity and critical thinking
  • Prepare engaging resources and schemes of work aligned with specification requirements
  • Assess and mark student work, providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, and attainment, and provide appropriate support and intervention when needed
  • Support students with university applications, including personal statements and academic references
  • Participate in team meetings, exam preparation, quality assurance activities, and curriculum development
  • Contribute to creating a positive, respectful, and focused classroom culture

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or willingness to achieve one
  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching A Level Psychology in a post-16 or FE setting
  • Strong knowledge of the current curriculum and assessment criteria (AQA, OCR, or Edexcel)
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to motivate and support learners of varying abilities and backgrounds
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience delivering results-driven support in an academic environment
  • Familiarity with UCAS application processes and progression routes into psychology-related degrees
  • Confidence using digital teaching tools and platforms such as Teams or Google Classroom
