The AI Governance Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and nurturing our organization's approach to responsible AI innovation. This position champions the integration of ethical standards and transparent practices into our AI solutions, guiding collaborative efforts to ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines and fostering trust both internally and externally. As a key advocate for thoughtful AI deployment, the AI Governance Manager will empower teams through education, risk assessment, and proactive governance strategies, contributing to a future where AI technologies enrich lives responsibly.
The role’s primary objective is to create and maintain a structured approach to implementing and managing AI technologies within the Lockton Group, balancing innovation with ethical responsibility, compliance, and risk management. This involves establishing and enforcing governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with global legal and regulatory standards, mitigating risks such as bias, and promoting transparency and accountability in AI decision-making processes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology owners on new AI capabilities as they move from “lab” to “production”.
- Create, maintain, and support the implementation of Group-wide AI governance frameworks and, alongside the Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Corporate Secretary teams, relevant policies and procedures.
- Perform due diligence on AI tools or systems (whether owned or provided by third-party vendors) to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and industry standards.
- Identify and assess potential risks related to AI models, including biases, fairness, inaccuracies, intellectual property, and ethical concerns.
- Develop strategies to address AI-related risks.
- Partner with internal Information Security to ensure AI system security, safeguards against data breaches, adversarial attacks, and misuse.
- Work with stakeholders to align AI strategies and governance practices with broader organizational objectives.
- Engage with regulators, policymakers, and industry bodies to stay informed about AI regulations and standards.
- Assist with onboarding and maintaining third-party vendors to ensure compliance with AI legal and regulatory requirements.
- Advise on data management policies and standards for AI systems.
- Develop and deliver training on ethical AI use and governance.
- Prepare management reports on AI governance activities.
- Bring significant experience in AI governance, data privacy, compliance, or related areas, with a strong understanding of AI technologies and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working across functions and influencing stakeholders at various levels in a global organization.
- Deep understanding of AI and data privacy/security regulations such as US state-specific AI rules, OECD AI Principles, EU AI Act, GDPR, HIPAA, and industry-specific standards.
- Proven ability to manage risks like algorithmic bias, data privacy issues, and model vulnerabilities.
- Experience in developing governance frameworks for AI ensuring compliance, security, and risk management.
