Job description

Exciting Vet Opportunities in Essex – Up to £100K for a Lead Vet!

Stephanie at GVC is working with a progressive and friendly small animal clinic in Essex who are on the lookout for two talented Vets to join their expanding team – one General Practice Vet and one Lead Vet.

This well-established practice has been serving the local community for over a decade, combining a supportive team environment with access to excellent facilities. With three vets already on the team (including a recent graduate and a colleague with an exotics interest), plus four experienced RVNs, you’ll be part of a close-knit, collaborative, and motivated group.

An additional perk – a certificate holder in small animal surgery, including orthopaedics, regularly visits the clinic, ensuring an exciting and varied caseload and opportunities for clinical growth.

Roles
  • General Practice Vet: Perfect for someone with a little experience who wants to further develop their clinical and surgical skills. Supportive mentoring environment with lots of learning opportunities.
  • Lead Vet – Up to £100,000 Salary: A fantastic opportunity for an experienced vet to step up or continue in a leadership role. Expected to provide guidance and support to the newer graduate in practice. Autonomy and clinical freedom, with the backing of a strong nursing team.
Location

The clinic offers a balance of countryside living with easy access to London. With Chelmsford and Witham just a short drive away, commuting is a breeze, and Stansted Airport is under an hour for those who love to travel.

Caseload & Facilities

The team sees a wide variety of cases, from routine consults to emergency surgeries. Surgical work includes:

  • Neutering, dentistry, mass removals
  • Emergency procedures (pyometra, C-sections, foreign bodies, cystotomies)
  • Ophthalmic surgery and wound management

The practice is well-equipped with in-house lab, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and multiparameter monitoring, making it a great environment to practice high-quality, modern veterinary medicine.

What’s on Offer
  • Salary up to £100,000 for the Lead Vet role (DOE/FTE)
  • Generous CPD allowance with certificate funding
  • 5.6 weeks holiday (increasing with service) plus birthday leave
  • Private health insurance & enhanced maternity/paternity leave
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Pension scheme & colleague discount across Pets at Home Group
  • No OOHs and only 1:4 weekends

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a team that values clinical freedom, teamwork, and progression – with genuine potential to shape the future of the clinic.

If you’re an ambitious Vet ready to take the next step – whether as a GP Vet looking for a supportive practice, or as a Lead Vet keen to make an impact and earn up to £100K – get in touch with Stephanie at GVC today to find out more!
