Job description

At a pivotal time of transformation, MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a Belfast-based Public Sector organisation as they seek to appoint an outstanding strategic leader to serve as its Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape and oversee the delivery of the organisation's corporate functions. This includes strategic leadership of Finance, ICT, Estates, Risk and Security, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and long-term sustainability. Your role will be essential in embedding robust governance frameworks and enabling high-impact service delivery through innovative and resilient organisational practices.

The Director of Finance and Corporate Services must demonstrate exceptional strategic leadership and a proven track record of managing complex corporate functions to deliver high-impact, value-driven services. This role requires the ability to lead transformational change through innovation, embed a culture of continuous improvement, and build high-performing teams that drive operational excellence and organisational resilience. Through a commitment to high ethical standards and a trauma-informed approach, the organisation aims to foster trust, engagement, and healing within affected communities.

Who We're Looking For

You will be a qualified accountant and an established senior leader with:

• At least five years' experience at Director or senior management level in a complex organisation, leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• A strong track record in financial strategy, corporate governance, digital transformation, and estates management.
• A proven ability to navigate the challenges of balancing governance requirements with the development of a purpose-driven, high-performing culture.
• Experience advising executive boards or senior stakeholders on strategic and operational matters.
• You will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to public service values including integrity, accountability, and respect.
