Why is this placement important and how does it fit into the team, department and wider firm?

At Browne Jacobson, we're all about action and progress when it comes to social mobility, not just talk. We're an ambitious firm, and our inclusive, forward-thinking culture is something we're really proud of—it's a big part of what makes us stand out. This culture is crucial for our growth, allowing us to do meaningful, profitable work while creating a sustainable and enjoyable environment for our team, where everyone can take pride in their background.

However, maintaining our reputation and growing our business means we need to keep attracting, developing, and retaining top diverse talent. That's where the team comes in. We've had success with our social mobility initiatives, like our FAIRE programme and emerging talent programmes, but there's still more to do to help us reach our goals, and we need your help.

Don't worry about travel costs—they're all covered.

This is an exciting chance to dive into how a business develops and implements strategies around DEI and social mobility. You'll work closely with the Senior Social Mobility Inclusion Manager, support the DEI team, and help implement improvements across our social mobility efforts. It's a great opportunity to learn and make an impact in a high-profile team.

  • Helping create Social Mobility resources for internal/ external use
  • Administrative and operational support of our Flagship FAIRE Virtual career insights events (there can be over 5,000 attendees and some very high-profile legal industry speakers involved)
  • Delivering external Careers fairs (In-person and online at schools, colleges & universities), in some cases to support our client ‘Social Value’ commitments
  • Helping set up and run the internal Social Mobility Employee Resource Group (Network)

What skills will be developed during the placement?

  • Plan and deliver events (such as careers talks, conferences, meetings, etc)
  • Project planning (create timelines and actions to make sure new initiatives successfully happen)
  • Writing internal communications to a wide range of people to ensure everyone knows what is happening, why, when, and how they can get involved)
  • Working with different professional stakeholders of all levels (junior to Board level)
  • Exposure to young people from all backgrounds

Who would enjoy this role?

  • Be passionate about social mobility and diversity equity & inclusion, with a desire to make a difference in these areas
