Job summary

Are you a B7 Clinical Psychologist seeking progression? Or an existing 8A Clinical Psychologist ready for a new challenge? We would love for you to come and join us in Suffolk Specialist CAMHS!

We're looking for a pro-active, passionate, and motivated 8A Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join our East Suffolk Specialist CAMHS team, based in Ipswich. Our service provides highly specialist mental health treatment for children and young people up to the age of 18 years old.

If you have the drive to provide excellent care, can demonstrate high quality clinical skills and are willing to go the extra mile to help make a difference to young people's lives then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to be joining the Suffolk CFYP care group as we are developing how we deliver psychological approaches within Primary Care Networks, more specialist secondary teams, across the Crisis Pathways including alternative to admission approaches and the creation of dynamic tier 4 responses and interventions. The new service model integrates services within community hubs and community services, sharing expertise across the systems.

We welcome applicants who are committed to helping develop new ways of working, applying evidence based and innovative approaches. To assist us with this development we need psychologists to assist in delivering outstanding treatment to our young people and families in need. We are striving to develop our care model to be more aligned with the needs of the local communities. These changes are responding to the changing needs of local communities, with the aim of embedding mental health services within the community and truly bringing the expertise to where it is needed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology, accredited by BPS
Desirable
  • Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
Experience

Essential
  • Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee clinical psychologist
  • Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
Desirable
  • Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).
Skills

Essential
  • Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Skills in consultation to professional and non - professional groups.
Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context.
  • Evidence of CPD as recommended by BPS
Desirable
  • Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical settings and service user groups
Other

Essential
  • Ability to travel independently.
