Job Description:

Pulse is currently seeking a determined band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join our client’s NHS team in London. The position is available for immediate start, working full-time hours for a 5-month period.

This role involves working within a Multidisciplinary Team to promote the emotional and physical health and wellbeing of children aged 5-12 years who are living with excess weight.

The team includes a Highly Specialist Family Therapist / Service Lead, Consultant Paediatrician, Specialist Dietitian, and Physical Activity Specialist. They provide care and support for children affected by excess weight in the community, employing a systemic biopsychosocial approach.

CAMHS Practitioner Role

The CAMHS Practitioner provides specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention to children and their families, along with consultation and liaison to the wider network.

  1. Provide specialist assessments of referred children in collaboration with family members and other involved professionals.
  2. Formulate and implement plans for therapeutic support to promote emotional and physical health.
  3. Conduct therapeutic sessions with children and their carers, families, and groups, using various explanatory models and maintaining provisional hypotheses.
  4. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, considering complex developmental and historical factors.
  5. Offer specialist advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals involved in the child's care.

Minimum Requirements

  • Hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • Be HCPC registered
  • Proven track record in a CAMHS role
  • Analytical with good attention to detail
  • Experience in supervision
