Van Driver Job Overview – 7.5T Vehicle Delivery Specialist
As a 7.5T Van Driver at Oxford Fencing Supplies, you will play a vital role delivering fencing and building materials promptly and safely to domestic and trade customers across Oxfordshire. You will be the friendly face of our business on the road, ensuring excellent customer service with every interaction, while maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety and legal compliance. Hours, Pay and Benefits – Working as a 7.5T Van Driver
- Full-time, permanent position based at Oxford Fencing Supplies, Oxford, OX2 9PL
- Working hours: Monday to Friday 07:30–17:00, alternate Saturdays 08:00–12:00 (44.5 hours per week)
- Salary up to £35,000, dependent on experience

Main Driver Responsibilities – Safe Delivery and Customer Satisfaction
- Safely drive and operate a 7.5T delivery van in line with road traffic regulations and company procedures.
- Plan efficient delivery routes, ensuring timely arrival at each destination and minimising vehicle mileage.
- Load and unload fencing and building materials using appropriate lifting techniques, with care for both product and personal safety.
- Deliver orders to customer sites in a courteous, professional manner, ensuring undamaged and complete deliveries every time.
- Provide excellent customer service at the delivery point, addressing queries and escalating any issues to branch management as needed.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, reporting faults or maintenance needs promptly to ensure compliance and safety.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including signed PODs (Proof of Delivery) and electronic records where required.
- Uphold Oxford Fencing Supplies’ and Lawsons’ values during all customer interactions and on the road.
- Work collaboratively with the yard, transport and sales teams to resolve any delivery or scheduling challenges.
- Support the wider team by assisting in the yard or warehouse during quieter periods, as required.
Driver Requirements – Skills and Experience for a 7.5T Van Delivery Role
- Valid UK 7.5T driving licence with up-to-date CPC qualification and digital tachograph card (essential)
- Previous experience in multi-drop van or lorry driving, preferably within the building materials, DIY, or trade supplies sector
- Proven track record of safe driving and accident-free record
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused, friendly approach
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift and manoeuvre building materials safely (manual handling training provided)
- Strong organisational skills and a methodical, reliable work ethic
- Flexible and proactive attitude, supporting team members as required
