Qualifications

Job description

Wincanton are looking for a 7.5 tonnes Driver who has a passion for customer service to join our 2 man home delivery team in Northampton carrying out a mixture of deliveries for our Wickes contract.

The role includes driving vans alongside other vehicle types, as operational needs dictate. Drive Company vehicles and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Comply with the vehicle security and always standing procedure.
  • Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks prior to the operation of any vehicle, reporting any defects immediately.
  • Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner.
  • On return to site, report to the traffic office for full debrief.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident, and damage reporting.

To be considered for this role, you MUST:

  • Hold a valid in date C1 licence
  • Hold a Valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Hold a Full Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
  • Have a minimum of 6 months driving experience
  • Have a positive, flexible attitude to work
  • Be a good timekeeper, with the ability to work unsupervised

Due to the nature of the work, this role is physically demanding, and heavy manual handling is required. It is therefore essential that the successful applicant is capable of carrying out this nature of work.

Working Hours and Benefits:

  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • Starting between 0400 and 0600
  • 45 hours per week
  • Overtime paid at basic hourly rate
  • Salary £36270 per annum plus yearly bonuses of £1300
  • 28 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
