Job summary

John Lewis & Partners is hiring a Driver Technician Trainee in the United Kingdom. You will undergo a three-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. After training, you will join a two-person delivery crew to install products at customers' homes, such as furniture and large appliances.

Responsibilities

• Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and assist with loading deliveries with the warehouse team.
• Show respect for the customer's home and handle issues to find best solutions.
• Install products (TVs, appliances, wall-mounts) and demonstrate operation.
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies.
• Follow all driving regulations, including Working Time Directive.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service is your number one priority.
• Perform daily checks and assist in loading your vehicle with the daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
• Show great respect and courtesy for the customer's home, and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
• Installing various products (including wall-mount TVs, integrated appliances, and hard-wired appliance installations). This will be completed efficiently and quickly for our customers, and will demonstrate how they work once installed.
• Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
• Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Please note that this role involves heavy lifting. You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills/experience You'll Need

• UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Have great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable Skills/experience You May Have

• Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
• Previous role model or team leader experience
