Job summary

John Lewis Partnership in Avonmouth is seeking an Installation Specialist to join a 2-person delivery crew responsible for installing large items such as sofas, white goods, and TVs at customer homes from a 7.5-tonne vehicle.

The role includes an evening premium (£3.25/h) and night premium (£4.25/h) for specified hours, with varied full-time hours across Mon–Sat. Pre-employment vetting may apply; DBS checks could be required.

Qualifications

• Previous installation experience required; installer accreditation provided by John Lewis.
• Manual C1 UK driving licence with max 6 points.
• DCPC or Driver Qualification Card required by day one.
• Tachograph Card required.
• Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle beneficial.
• Customer-facing experience essential.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and in person.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' doors and install the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £3.25 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £4.25 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements. Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role. Please note this role involves heavy lifting: You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• Previous experience of installation is required for this role and we'll assist in topping up your knowledge with our very own installer accreditation.


• Manual C1 UK driving licence (with a maximum of 6 points)


• DCPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) or Driver Qualification Card by the first day in the role.


• Tachograph Card.


• Previous experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.


• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.


• Great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.


• Good understanding of technology.

Desirable skills/experience you can bring

• Installation and disconnection of white goods.


• TV installation.


• Assembly of a flat pack.
