Job description

Our client is a large local government organisation seeking several HGV / LGV 2 drivers to join their team. This is initially a 3-month contract, which may be extended for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include:

1. Collect domestic recycling/refuse responsibly and efficiently from properties throughout the district on a specified and agreed route weekly.
2. Drive and operate refuse/recycling vehicles.
3. Clean vehicle body and cab at least once per week.
4. Act in accordance with Council Work Practices and represent the Council professionally at all times.
5. Follow Health and Safety Work Practices outlined in the manual.
6. Take responsibility for vehicle and equipment issued, reporting any defects affecting roadworthiness or effectiveness.
7. Complete daily drivers’ hours book and submit weekly to the Services Manager.
8. Promote waste minimisation by not disposing of domestic refuse when collecting organic waste.
9. Educate the public on correct refuse/recycling disposal methods.
10. Empty contents of refuse/recycling vehicles at landfill sites.
11. Use fuel purchase cards in accordance with the organisation’s Financial Regulations.
