Job description

7.5 Tonne Driver (C1) who has good knowledge of the local road networks with excellent customer service skills, the ability to drive, deliver and unload the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and is ready to hit the ground running is required for a tight-knit team within a busy Warehouse / Depot in Newark, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands.

The ideal candidate will have experience of driving a 7.5T lorry. However, we also welcome applications from candidates who have a Class 2 License and could drive heavier lorries.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Core hours are usually 8am to 4pm. However, as with any agricultural business, the company is dictated by the weather. Therefore, during the high seasons, you will be required to be flexible with the seasonality of the business, which means during the busy period you could be required to work more than the core hours, but this would be balanced with working less hours during the quieter season.

Please note: An ADR licence is an advantage, but training can be provided for this.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a 7.5 Tonne Driver (C1) who has good knowledge of the local road networks with excellent customer service skills, the ability to drive, deliver and unload the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and is ready to hit the ground running.

Working as the 7.5 Tonne Driver (C1), you will safely deliver the correct goods to the correct delivery point, using the most efficient route. You will also adhere to all road transport legislation and ensure safe and compliant vehicle loads.

As the 7.5 Tonne Driver (C1), you will also need to load and unload vehicles using a Forklift Truck (additional counter-balance training provided) or by handballing where necessary.

On occasion, there may be a requirement to travel to different locations to attend training or meetings or support other depots; plenty of notice would be given if this was required.

DUTIES

  • Deliver goods promptly and cost-effectively as instructed by the Depot Supervisor, ensuring the accuracy of each delivery against the delivery advice note and by using the most economic route in the order of priority of each delivery as instructed.
  • Load, drive and unload the vehicle within the regulations laid down by BASIS, statute and the Company, which includes handballing goods into customer stores.
  • Maintain accurate and timely vehicle and tachograph records as required by the Company and legislation.
  • Work in line with company procedures to provide a great level of service for customers.
  • Build strong and long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders across the internal and external businesses.
  • Operate a fork-lift truck safely and in accordance with Company standards – if you haven’t done this before, training is supplied so it’s not a necessity.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and safe condition. Report any defects found daily and by manners and appearance of self and vehicle.
  • Must have a hands-on attitude and be able to work in any area of the depot when required and as instructed by the Depot Supervisor or Depot Assistant.
