Job Description

This role involves supervising work groups of offenders serving community sentences, including driving service vehicles. The post holder will oversee work site supervision tasks, work alongside service users to ensure tasks are completed to the best of their ability, and demonstrate good practice.

The post involves working on varied projects that provide credible punishment and reparation to the community. The post holder will exercise authority to maintain discipline, contribute to the rehabilitative potential of the sentence, and support service users in gaining employment skills through positive work experiences. The role may require weekend work and collaboration with volunteers or partner organizations.

Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
  • Conduct Pre-Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions.
  • Lead start-of-day safety and task briefings for service users.
  • Follow work directions and ensure health & safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are available and used safely.
  • Perform dynamic risk assessments to identify hazards.
  • Use motivational techniques to ensure disciplined and well-behaved work groups.
  • Monitor attendance and promote successful completion of placements.
  • Maintain accurate records and update case management systems.
  • Work towards accreditation as a workplace assessor or deliver training assessments.
  • Promote Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, and the public.

The role requires a commitment to equality and confidentiality, adaptability to additional tasks, and effective communication skills in English (or Welsh where specified).
