Job summary

Interaction Engineering in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, seeks an experienced 5-axis CNC Programmer/Machinist for an initial 2-month contract with potential extension to 6 months. Start early October. Role involves offline programming, setting, and process optimisation in aerospace/defence sectors.

You'll program with PowerMill/PowerShape, manipulate CATIA CAD data, set up 5-axis machinery, and develop inspection instructions. Strong problem-solving and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• 5-axis CNC programming experience.
• PowerMill and PowerShape proficiency.
• CATIA CAD data manipulation.
• Setting and operating CNC machines.
• FANUC and/or HEIDENHAIN control experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
• Attention to detail and a structured approach.

Responsibilities

• Offline 5-axis programming.
• CNC machine setting and operation.
• Develop and optimise machining processes.
• Create robust 5-axis programming strategies.
• Program using PowerMill and PowerShape.
• Create/modify CAD data from CATIA.
• Develop inspection instructions and quality requirements.
• Support shop-floor teams and fixture design.
• Monitor tooling and supplier liaison.
• Prove out first-off programmes and ensure production readiness.
• Improve toolpaths for efficiency and accuracy.
