Job summary

Qualifications

  • Previously authorised as 400kV SAP.

Job Title

400kV SAP

Overview

Looking for someone to have significant experience in working with high voltage systems, as an 400kV Senior Authorised Person on electricity transmission systems, preferably within the offshore wind industry

An excellent understanding of industry standard Electrical Mechanical Safety Rules (EMSR’s) and other relevant procedures is essential. You must also have excellent IT skills and the ability to process information quickly to ensure prompt and efficient response to faults and other unplanned situations.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Following health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Reporting any hazards or failings in safety procedures
  • Taking reasonable care of their own HSE compliance
  • Strive to improve HSE both personally and for the business.
  • Promote HSEQ aspects across project delivery

Main Duties

  • Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
  • Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages.
  • Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
  • Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
  • Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
  • Acting as Control Engineer
  • Preparing switching schedules
  • Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and NGT as required
  • Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
  • Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
  • Maintaining the asset register
  • Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
  • Producing final reports
  • Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Complex protection relay testing is desirable
  • Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment
  • Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training
  • Keeping in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner
  • Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
  • Other duties commensurate with the role

Knowledge

  • HV Safe Systems of Work
  • Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
  • Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
  • Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
  • Knowledge of Working offshore

Qualifications
