Job summary

Generator Power is recruiting a Night Shift Field Service Engineer to join the team at our Normanton Industrial Estate head office. The role involves 52 hours per week across 4 on/4 off shifts from 7pm to 8am, with a handover from day shift engineers.

Responsibilities include servicing diesel generators, fault finding, and preparing equipment for hire, with weekend work as part of the rota. Relevant City & Guilds qualifications or forklift licence are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine repair and maintenance experience.
• GCSE or equivalent required.
• City and Guilds qualifications preferred.
• Fork Lift Truck Licence is desirable but not essential.

• Carry out planned service and maintenance on hire fleet and customer equipment.
• Fault location, diagnosis and rectification on equipment.
• Prepare diesel engine generators for hire.
• Loading and unloading of vehicles.
• General housekeeping to keep work areas tidy.
• Complete and submit company paperwork as required.

Generator Power is the UKs largest independent rental generator company, running a fleet from 10KVA to 1250KVA sets along with panels and cables, with over 22 years of experience in the industry. The company has 9 depots across the UK with and Trackway Solutions in Wetherby. The company provides installation of Generators to normal site and even into remote and hard to reach areas. Generator Power has grown in recent years and is ready for further expansion. This growth offers the opportunity for a 4 on, 4 off Night Shift Field service Engineer to join the team at our head office in Normanton Industrial Estate.

Hours of work

• 13 hour shift patterns comprising of 4 days on 4 days off being 52 hours, which will equate to a paid 48 hour week with 1 hour unpaid break per shift. start time is 7pm and finish at 8am where there will be a short handover period with the day shift engineers.
• Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays and Bank Holidays) are part of the normal rota.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Carry out planned service and maintenance work on both hire fleet and customers equipment.
• Fault location, diagnosis and rectification to hire fleet and customers equipment.
• Preparation of diesel engine generators for hire.
• Loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Carry out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.
• Completion and submission of all company paperwork as per procedure.

Qualifications/Skills required

• GCSE High school or equivalent.
• City and Guilds Qualifications.
• Fork Lift Truck Licence (Not essential full training can be provided)
• City and guilds in plant maintenance/ HGV maintenance or similar.

Experience required

• Experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance as a minimum.
