Job summary

North Birmingham location seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliability of critical production equipment in a heavy industrial setting. You will work within a skilled team, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support continuous improvements.

The role offers a 4-on/4-off days pattern and a base salary around £53,000, with OTE £60,000–£65,000 and quarterly bonuses.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong mechanical bias.
• A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Responding to mechanical breakdowns and reactive maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing faults to minimise downtime
• Completing shift handovers and maintenance reports
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping
