Job description

At the heart of my client’s technical operations lies a dynamic and highly skilled IT Support and Project Engineer — someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-driven Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment. This is more than just a support role; it’s a position where deep technical expertise meets proactive leadership, where solving complex problems is part of everyday life, and where no two days are ever the same.

From the moment the day begins, you’re already thinking one step ahead. You know the systems, services, and networks inside out — not just because you’ve supported them, but because you've helped design and build them. You’re the final point of escalation for the 1st and 2nd line teams, the go-to expert when the difficult problems arise.

Your colleagues rely on your insights, your experience, and your calm, methodical approach when things get tough.

Your week might involve planning the rollout of a project for a client, heading out to a site visit to advise on a network upgrade, or working closely with sales to scope and price a new technical solution.

You're equally comfortable in a boardroom explaining solutions to non-technical stakeholders as you are in a server room diagnosing a persistent networking issue.

But this role isn’t just about fixing problems — it’s about preventing them. You help maintain processes that keep systems monitored, secure, and efficient.

You spot opportunities to improve service delivery and billing alignment. You write documentation that becomes the gold standard for your team. And when knowledge gaps appear, you’re there to mentor others and deliver internal training.

You play a key part in ensuring that my client’s customers receive exceptional service — meeting SLAs, exceeding expectations, and building long-term trust.

Whether you're jumping in to answer a support call, scripting an automation to reduce ticket volume, or designing a SharePoint migration plan, your technical decisions have a direct impact on real businesses.

What You Bring to the Team

You’re not new to this world — you've spent at least 3 years navigating the complexities of an MSP, developing deep technical knowledge across systems like Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Intune. You’ve worked with cloud-based antivirus and backup platforms, handled multi-site AD environments, and are comfortable managing shared storage solutions like iSCSI or SANs.

Your scripting skills in PowerShell or VBS help you automate the mundane, while your familiarity with RMM tools like Datto allows you to proactively manage client infrastructure. Networking? You’re fluent in switches, VLANs, DNS, firewalls, and more — whether it’s Cisco, HP, Aruba, or Unifi, you’ve likely configured it before.

You communicate clearly — whether you’re speaking to clients, writing documentation, or advising peers. You take pride in your work, stay cool under pressure, and believe in doing things the right way. You enjoy collaborating with others, but you’re equally comfortable managing projects independently from start to finish.

And above all, you’re someone who loves what you do — someone who takes satisfaction in solving tough problems, supporting others, and driving technology forward.

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 3 years in a technical MSP role
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (site work required)
  • Experience delivering IT projects and technical consultancy
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • A methodical, thorough approach to troubleshooting and escalation
  • Familiarity with tools like Autotask, Datto RMM, SCCM, and Microsoft 365 admin platforms
  • Certifications such as CCNA, VCP, or Microsoft is a big plus

This is more than a job. It’s a chance to shape the future of IT service delivery, lead with expertise, and make a real difference for both your colleagues and customers.
