Job summary

Chroma Recruitment is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a newly formed infrastructure team in Central Manchester. This on-site role is 2–3 days per week, on a 6-month initial contract with strong extension potential, designed to deliver stability, variety and real impact.

You will hands-on manage Azure-based services (AVD, IaaS/PaaS), Windows Server, AD, Microsoft 365, and firewall infrastructure, collaborating with a small team to maintain a robust, secure

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on cloud and infrastructure support.
• Azure Cloud skills: AAD, AVD, IaaS/PaaS.
• Windows Server and Active Directory expertise.
• Microsoft 365 proficiency.
• Firewall and SD-WAN expertise (Meraki, Palo Alto).
• VMware and other virtualization platforms.
• Ability to provide Azure examples in interview; strong independent troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Provide support across a broad range of 3rd line Infrastructure activities.
• Resolve complex technical ticketed operational issues.
• Basic networking and hardware troubleshooting.
• Advanced troubleshooting within Azure.
• Advanced firewall troubleshooting.
• Support and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
• Ensure mission‑critical systems remain stable, secure, and performant.
• Work across Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and virtualised environments.
• Support enterprise networking, SD‑WAN technologies, and firewall infrastructure.
• Contribute to infrastructure improvements and ongoing technical projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years' hands‑on experience in cloud and infrastructure support.
• Strong technical expertise across:
• Azure Cloud, including Azure Active Directory and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
• Azure IaaS and PaaS services
• Windows Server
• Active Directory
• Microsoft 365
• Firewall technologies (strong knowledge of SD‑WAN, Meraki, and Palo Alto)
• VMware and other virtualisation platforms
• Enterprise‑scale networking and server environments (300–400 users/servers)
• Able to provide specific, evidenced examples of Azure experience during interview.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
