Role: 3rd Line Cloud Engineer

Location: Basingstoke - 5 Days Customer Site

Working Pattern: Shift Working (0700 – 1500 and 1100 – 1900 on a Weekly Rotating Pattern)

This role requires candidates to be eligible and willing to undergo a high level of security clearance.

As a 3rd Line Cloud Engineer, you will deliver value for our customers by exploring new technologies within a team that values collaboration and operates in a constantly changing environment to build a better service.

Your role will involve:

We are looking for a 3rd Line Cloud Engineer to join a small, dynamic team of 2nd and 3rd Line engineers. Your responsibilities will include carrying out planned activities via a Change Management Process, monitoring systems using Event Management tooling, and responding to incidents through the Incident Process, including incident triage and escalation via the Service Management Team. Examples of tasks include:

  • Responding to escalations from 2nd Line Daily checks
  • Extensive work with VMware products
  • Carrying out readiness assessments for new releases entering service from the Engineering Team
  • Producing and maintaining documentation such as Work Instructions and Patching Schedules

Key skills and experience:

  • Cloud Administration (e.g., Broadcom: SDDC Manager, vCenter, ESXi)
  • Event Management Tooling (e.g., SCOM)
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take on Technical Leadership activities

Your transferable skills and experience:

  • Significant VMware experience
  • Cloud Administration (e.g., Broadcom: vCloud Director)
  • Event Management Tooling (e.g., Aria Operations)
  • Automation & Scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
  • Server Administration (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server)
