Job summary

Richmond upon Thames College is seeking a part-time Technician to support the Department of Creative Industries across wood, metal, and plastics workshops. The role includes inductions, demonstrations, and one-to-one guidance to students on personal projects, ensuring safe workshop environments and stock management.

We will also assist with setting up rooms for open events and exhibitions, and may accompany staff and students on educational visits.

Responsibilities

• The Technician will have the expertise to support students in producing practical work in Wood, Metal and Plastics in the 3D specialist workshops and general Art Studios.
• This will include whole group inductions and demonstrations as well as working on a one-to-one basis with individual students on personal project development.
• The Technician will ensure that the designated workshops are safe working environments for staff and students.
• The Technician will be proactive in supporting all courses within the department with physical and practical resources.
• This will include in the studio base rooms, the ordering and managing of stock and its storage and the setting up of rooms for open events, exhibitions and showcases.
• The Technician may occasionally be required to accompany staff and students on educational visits.
