Imperial War Museums (IWM) seeks a creative and detail-driven 3D Exhibitions Designer for a fixed-term 3-year contract. The role supports exhibition design across all five IWM branches, from initial concepts to detailed construction drawings and installation oversight. Projects include major exhibitions, gallery updates, and exhibit furniture design. Working closely with curators, the design team, and contractors, the designer ensures all spatial and interpretive elements meet museum standards and narratives. This is a hands-on role requiring visual storytelling ability, technical knowledge, and a passion for impactful, audience-focused experiences that reflect IWM’s mission.
1. 3D spatial and exhibition design expertise
2. Strong technical drawing and visualisation (CAD, SketchUp, etc.)
3. Knowledge of materials, construction, and installation methods
4. Effective communication and presentation skills
5. Collaborative project work with internal teams and contractors
Closing date: 26 May Salary:
• Range: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
• Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (3 years)
• Location: London (with travel to other IWM sites including Duxford and Manchester)
• Additional Info: Evening and weekend work may be required (TOIL offered)
