DPS Games is a Wargaming studio, proudly backed by the global success of titles like World of Tanks. Based in Guildford, we are part of one of the world’s leading free-to-play PC game companies, with the resources and experience to support ambitious, long-term development.

We're currently building our next big project: an epic-scale, sci-fi fantasy, free-to-play game focused on delivering cinematic visual quality and a rich, immersive world.

Now in the early stages of pre-production and prototyping, we’re looking for a talented and detail-driven 3D Character Artist to help bring the game’s characters to life, crafting models that reflect the tone, style, and quality of the world we’re building. You’ll be responsible for creating high-quality models that bring creative ideas to life while meeting the technical requirements of game production, collaborating closely with the Art Director and the wider team to ensure every character fits beautifully within the world we’re building.

This is a full-time, onsite role at our Guildford studio.

What will you do?

  • Create high-quality 3D characters based on concept art and references.
  • Contribute to character pipeline design, documentation, and implementation.
  • Prototype new techniques and workflows to support visual development.
  • Produce both high-poly and optimized low-poly models, using advanced shaders and texture sets.
  • Support external development partners and ensure asset consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director to push creative and technical quality.

What are we looking for?

  • Professional character art experience in game development.
  • Portfolio showcasing high-quality character art ,including clean high-poly to low-poly bakes, strong material definition, and visual storytelling aligned with game-ready standards.
  • Skilled in stylized and realistic character modelling.
  • Proficient in ZBrush, 3ds Max or Maya, and Substance Painter.
  • Strong eye for detail, anatomy, composition, and material rendering.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, and be able to both take critique and give feedback internally and externally in a professional manner.
  • Strong time management and an organized approach to tasks, optimization, and asset handling.

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Traditional art skills (drawing, painting, sculpting, photography).
  • Comfort with concepting characters when needed. BA in art related field or equivalent experience.
  • Samples of your work displaying clean High Poly to Low Poly bakes, strong understanding of material variation and stylized texturing.
  • Passion for games and an awareness of current industry trends
  • Onsite (Guildford studio)
  • This role is not eligible for relocation/immigration support.
