Job Description:

The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is an independent organisation dedicated to exposing human rights violations and threats to democracy. We achieve this through open source research, digital investigations, capacity-building with local partners, and collaboration with media to amplify our impact.

CIR was born out of a determination to expose those spreading harm – online and offline – around the world, particularly in areas of violent conflict, such as Ukraine, Sudan and Myanmar. Our projects are at the forefront of efforts to investigate and document human rights abuses, war crimes, harms targeting women and minorities, and influence operations. We work closely with multilateral and national justice accountability bodies.

The role

CIR requires the support of open-source investigators to support a range of different projects examining and building resilience to harmful disinformation and information manipulation in different countries. The investigators will provide ongoing analytical outputs to support project implementation. This will focus on documentation and analysis of information manipulation and interference across multiple social media platforms and online media outlets in use with a particular focus on external actors exacerbating conflict dynamics.

Number of roles: 3

Contract Type: Contractor

Contract length: 6 weeks from the 19th May 2025 – 30th June 2025.

Hours needed for this role: Full time hours.

Location: Remote. You must be able to speak and write English and Malay, Indonesia, or Thai.

Requirements

Main Responsibilities

  • Experience analysing or researching foreign information manipulation and interference.
  • Employ open-source intelligence (OSINT) and social media analysis (SOCMINT) tools, techniques, and methodologies to conduct research into information operations and disinformation in various countries.
  • Use SOCMINT tools to conduct audience analysis and gather audience insight.
  • Analysing and documenting evidence of Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour and other violations of platform terms and conditions and standards.
  • Deliver comprehensive reports, based on the above sources and analysis, highlighting key information, links, patterns, and risks.

Recruitment Process

To apply, please submit your CV and complete the application form questions. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview, which can be conducted remotely unless specified otherwise. CIR encourages applicants from under-represented communities.

CIR is an equal opportunities employer. If you require adjustments or additional support to complete this process, please let us know in your application.
