Qualifications

1. Experience in the custodial trade preferred.
2. Knowledgeable of building infrastructure, including boilers, heating, ventilation, air conditioning units, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems, with appropriate district-provided training.
3. Ability to perform custodial duties required of a physically demanding job.
4. Certification of good health signed by a medical professional; further medical review may be required through a school-appointed physician.
5. Ability to pass mandated trainings such as OSHA requirements.
6. A sense of humor and ability to work politely and friendly with staff, students, and the educational community.
7. Knowledge of SchoolDude work order system preferred with district training.
8. Any other job-related qualifications deemed appropriate by the School Department.

Head Custodian, Director of Facilities, and the Building Principal or designee.

Job Goals

To provide students and staff with a safe, comfortable, and functional environment; assist in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds; adapt to changing technologies with training provided.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Ensure routine cleanliness, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting during assigned shifts.
2. Perform manual labor related to cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds, including floor care, cleaning windows, furniture, walls, and fixtures.
3. Use hand and power tools, materials, and methods standard to custodial and maintenance trades.
4. Maintain sidewalks, driveways, entry, and play areas, ensuring they are clean and safe.
5. Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts with proper certifications.
6. Assist in operation and maintenance of building systems such as boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems, with training.
7. Maintain equipment and work area safety and cleanliness.
8. Understand occupational hazards and safety precautions.
9. Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
10. Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in various environmental conditions, including outside extremes and chemical exposure.
11. Work in confined spaces, on ladders, scaffolding, or aerial lifts, with training and certification.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
